Do you recall the mysterious red flags that appeared around the canyon last month, only to vanish as quickly as they arrived? Thanks to our collective restraint that left flags in place, we and the canyon too were fortunate to benefit from the San Diego Natural History Museum’s valuable research.

Our beloved canyons are more than just scenic backdrops; they are vital ecosystems that provide numerous benefits for our city. From filtering stormwater to serving as wildlife corridors, canyons play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy environment.

Despite their importance, San Diego's canyons face growing threats, including development, pollution, and invasive species. Understanding these challenges is essential to developing effective conservation strategies.

A Valuable Research Initiative

We're excited to share that the Natural History Museum is conducting a comprehensive biological assessment of many San Diego canyons, including our own 32nd Street Canyon! This important research will help us better understand the current state of our canyons, identify key threats, and develop effective conservation strategies.
