Our Urban Oasis
Join the Friends of the 32nd Street Canyon and protect this vital green space in San Diego.
The Friends of the 32nd Street Canyon is committed to becoming a leading voice for environmental activism in San Diego. We're currently developing engaging educational campaigns and community outreach programs to raise awareness about the canyon's vital role in our city's ecosystem. In the future, we plan to organize events like clean-up drives and native plant restoration projects, offering residents opportunities to actively participate in the canyon's preservation. Through these initiatives, we aim to build a strong community dedicated to protecting this irreplaceable natural treasure.
🌿 Volunteer This Week — Sweating for Wetlands 2026
Join us for three beat-the-heat mornings of fire-fuel clearing in 32nd Street Canyon, directed by a Restoration Ecologist. We're removing invasive nonnative plants to create defensible space and make room for native habitat to return.

Protecting the 32nd Street Canyon
The 32nd Street Canyon is a vital green space in San Diego, offering habitat for wildlife, filtering air and water, and providing a peaceful escape for residents. However, this precious resource faces threats.
We, a group of concerned citizens, believe the 32nd Street Canyon deserves protection. We envision a future where responsible development practices coexist with the canyon's delicate ecosystem. Our goal is to build a community-driven organization, the Friends of the 32nd Street Canyon, dedicated to safeguarding this natural treasure.
